Remedy unveiled its new multiplayer game, FBC Firebreak, previously known as Condor, during today’s Xbox Partner Preview event. This first-person shooter is set in the same location as Remedy’s popular single-player game Control, but is not a direct sequel. Firebreak marks Remedy’s entry into the multiplayer genre and is scheduled for release on PC and Xbox Series X/S in 2025.
The trailer showcases the gameplay of FBC Firebreak, featuring a cooperative horde mode for up to three players. Players take on the roles of first responders at the Federal Bureau of Control, tasked with handling supernatural threats within The Old House, the eerie office space of the FBC. While Firebreak moves away from Control’s horror elements, it offers brighter visuals and more action-packed gameplay.
FBC Firebreak incorporates familiar elements from Control, such as Altered Items, mysterious objects of power that players can use to fight off the hordes. According to game director Mike Kayatta, players will explore more of Control’s world, encounter new characters from the Federal Bureau of Control, and experience the Oldest House from a fresh perspective.
In 2021, Remedy hinted at a multiplayer spin-off for Control, originally planned with 505 Games as the publisher. Following the acquisition of Control’s rights earlier this year for $18 million, Remedy now owns the franchise and is actively seeking partners for Control 2 and Condor. Alongside Firebreak, Remedy also showcased a gameplay trailer for the upcoming expansion of Alan Wake 2, titled The Lake House.
