Tundra Esports has secured a top 3 finish at the ESL One Birmingham Major. We had the opportunity to chat with Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko the day after eliminating Team Falcons.
Talk about your experience in Birmingham so far.
Pure: My focus has been on Dota, so I haven’t had the chance to explore Birmingham yet. We’ve been scrimming, playing pubs, and preparing for our matches.
Sophie: Is this your first time in the UK?
Pure: Yes, it’s my first time here.
Sophie: Let’s talk about your time with Tundra since January. How has the transition been from BetBoom to Tundra?
Pure: I prefer playing with a European organization like Tundra over a CIS org like BetBoom. I appreciate the mentality and mindset of European players, especially working with top players like Topson.
Are you learning from your teammates like Topson?
Pure: It’s more about the great working relationship we have. We learn from each other and strive to grow as a team together.
Sophie: How has this impacted your preparation for games?
Pure: Our preparation remains consistent, but as a team, we are constantly evolving and analyzing our performances to improve collectively.
Sophie: Let’s talk about your recent games against Team Falcons. Your Morphling plays were impressive. How does this impact your gameplay mindset?
Pure: While we had a successful day, there were some mistakes we acknowledged and worked on. We respected Team Falcons, and they will now be more cautious in future matchups.
They didn’t ban our key heroes, giving us an advantage in the drafts.
Sophie: Tundra has been flexible in hero picks. Do you prefer comfort heroes or being unpredictable?
Pure: We have comfort heroes, but we can adapt to any situation in Dota. We are prepared to play any hero required for the team’s success.
Sophie: Falcons surprised with an Earth Spirit pick. How did you approach that draft?
Pure: We were prepared for the Earth Spirit pick and felt confident in our strategy. Skill plays a crucial role in utilizing heroes like Earth Spirit effectively.
Sophie: With a guaranteed top 3 finish, who would you like to face in the grand finals?
Pure: We’re open to facing any remaining team, including BetBoom or Falcons, in the finals for an exciting matchup.
