Get ready to experience the thrill of opening Pokémon card packs on your phone with Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. The game is set to launch on October 30 for Android and iOS, and you can preregister for it now.
Pocket is a joint project with Creatures Inc. and was first revealed in February during The Pokémon Company’s Pokémon Presents event, along with a teaser for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. With this app, you’ll receive two booster packs daily that you can open with a simple swipe. The animation and design emulate the sensation of physically opening a pack and viewing your cards. Many cards are designed as “immersive cards” that expand the artwork into interactive 3D spaces. In addition to classic cards, you can also collect exclusive ones available only in the app. Display your collection in a virtual binder or on a display board.
Pocket will offer in-app purchases, likely additional booster packs, though details on pricing and availability are yet to be revealed.
The Pokémon Company has made previous attempts to bring the card game to mobile devices, with Pokémon Trading Card Game Live serving as a rebranded version of the long-standing Pokémon TCG Online. While TCG Live emphasizes intense battle mechanics, Pocket offers a simpler, more accessible experience focused on collecting cards and casual play, either solo or with others.
Pocket caters to fans who enjoy the experience of unboxing packs and organizing cards in binders, rather than focusing on gameplay strategies.
