Pokémon Sleep has achieved over $120 million in gross revenue within 14 months of its launch, coinciding with a major update that enables smartwatch compatibility.
Players on iOS and Android devices now have the ability to sync Pokémon Sleep with their smartwatches, allowing them to track their sleep progress within the game without needing to keep the app open all night.
Compatibility has been expanded to include Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch, Fitbit, and Google Pixel Watch.
“Seamless Nighttime Routine”
Previously, Pokémon Sleep players had to leave the game open on their beds or purchase the $55 Pokémon Go Plus + device to track their sleep for in-game rewards.
The addition of smartwatch compatibility offers more flexibility to users, eliminating the need for the premium Pokémon product and conserving phone battery.
New achievements can now be unlocked by syncing sleep data from a smartwatch, indicating the encouragement of this new feature.
Players who were already using the Pokémon Go Plus + device can now choose to use either device for tracking their sleep.
Sleep data that has been manually adjusted on a smartwatch may not be eligible for registration in Pokémon Sleep. Additionally, sleep data recorded before linking devices cannot be transferred. Apple Watch users should note that only sleep periods lasting four hours or more are tracked.
“You can now track your sleep in #PokemonSleep with a #smartwatch! We hope you’ll enjoy a smoother nighttime routine with your Pokémon,” tweeted the official Pokémon Sleep account here.
Dreamlike Spending
After reaching $100 million just before its first anniversary, this innovative Pokémon project has now surpassed $120 million, with 74% of revenue coming from Japan.
The US market accounts for 13% of in-game spending globally, while Taiwan maintains a stable 4% share. Special in-game events like Raikou Research and Entei Research have contributed to revenue growth, with the introduction of Sleep Style Discovery Week coinciding with the smartwatch update.
During Sleep Style Discovery Week, players can unlock new entries in their Sleep Style Dex, promoting further engagement and increased opportunities for microtransactions within the game.
