With the first CS2 Major set to kick off in a few days’ time, all eyes are on Copenhagen as it prepares to host arguably the biggest Counter-Strike tournament of the year. For many players, this will be their first time tuning in to see what all the fuss is about.
To help introduce players to the scene, PGL is hosting a Newbie Stream for the entirety of the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, making it easier for those watching CS2 for the first time to understand the action.
What is the Newbie Stream?
Hosted by Jack “Jacky” Peters and Vince Hill, the Newbie Stream promises “a laid-back viewing experience,” with the duo guiding players through the matches.
The stream aims to simplify the viewing experience by minimizing hardcore analysis between matches. This approach is designed to make CS2 esports more enjoyable for casual viewers, potentially increasing the overall viewer count.
Lowering the barrier to entry to esports
Esports can have a high barrier to entry due to the complexity and history of certain games. The Newbie Stream from PGL for the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 aims to address this issue and provide a welcoming introduction to CS2 esports, especially for newcomers.
While it’s uncertain if the Newbie Stream will become a permanent feature, its implementation for this Major is a positive step towards making esports more accessible and engaging for all viewers.
