Exciting news for fans of the open-world crafting game Palworld as developer Pocketpair has partnered with Sony Music Entertainment to expand the game’s reach beyond just gameplay.
The partnership was announced in a press release and will kick off with exclusive merchandise available for purchase on Sony Music-owned Aniplex’s U.S. and Shanghai websites. The collaboration will also have a presence at Bilibili World 2024, a prominent Chinese video game convention taking place this weekend.
While specific details about future plans are yet to be revealed, Aniplex is a renowned anime maker and video game publisher known for producing popular anime series like Bleach, Demon Slayer, and the Fate series. This collaboration raises the possibility of a Palworld anime adaptation in the works, considering the game’s similarities to Pokémon.
Palworld, known for its unique blend of survival crafting and creature-catching gameplay, has gained significant traction since its early access release in January across various platforms. The game’s success can be attributed to its engaging gameplay loop where players capture Pals, utilize them for crafting at their base, and even breed them for more options. The game has garnered millions of players and sold over a million copies, surpassing major titles like Counter-Strike in popularity on Steam.
Furthermore, the game recently received a major update called the Sakurajima Update, introducing new content like an island, Pals, buildings, and a higher level cap, refreshing the experience for existing players.
