Exciting news for fans of Transformers and Overwatch 2 as the long-awaited collaboration is finally on the horizon. Blizzard Entertainment dropped a captivating cinematic trailer recently, showcasing the crossover and introducing new character skins.
The event is scheduled to kick off on July 9th, and while details are still scarce, the trailer provides a glimpse of four impressive skins. Reinhardt dons a striking Optimus Prime-inspired design in red, white, and blue, accompanied by Bastion as Bumblebee, Illari as Arcee, and Ramattra as Megatron. The characters engage in battles showcasing classic Transformers moves fused with their familiar Overwatch playstyles. For instance, Bastion transforms into the Bumblebee vehicle equipped with a cannon, while Reinhardt wields his iconic hammer.
With a variety of skins available, each class in the game will have at least one option for customization. While it would have been interesting to see skins for other characters like Zenyatta, the current lineup offers a good mix.
As expected, Blizzard is likely to roll out a limited-time mode along with additional cosmetics for the collaboration. Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming event, especially since it is just around the corner.
Blizzard has been teasing the crossover for some time now. A previous announcement in June introduced Season 11 of Overwatch 2, titled “Super Mega Ultrawatch,” featuring nostalgic elements alongside the Transformers collaboration, with a hint of Power Rangers cosmetics. Additionally, Blizzard released an online comic that hints at the Transformers being somewhat part of the Overwatch universe.
Overwatch 2 has been actively engaging in pop culture collaborations, with the likes of Cowboy Bebop, Power Rangers, and One Punch Man being just a few examples over the past year and a half.
