In June, Apple introduced an updated interface for the built-in flashlight in iOS 18. The latest iOS 18 beta 3 update has further improved the flashlight UI, making it more visually appealing and user-friendly.
TechCrunch reported that in iOS 18 beta 3, the flashlight design now includes a curved line to indicate both the width of the beam and its brightness. The UI also features a dotted, curved line at the top to show the flashlight’s peak intensity mark. These changes, while minor, showcase Apple’s commitment to refreshing a feature first introduced in 2013.

In past versions of iOS, users could adjust the brightness levels of the iPhone flashlight. With iOS 15, the beam pattern can also be modified to make the light wider or narrower.
For iPhone users on iOS 18, the flashlight icon is conveniently located in the Control Center. Tapping on it opens a user-friendly interface with a prominently displayed flashlight icon at the top center of the device. From there, users can easily adjust the brightness level and now the radius of the light beam.
If you’re eager to test out the new flashlight tool and other features of iOS 18, you can install the current beta version on your compatible iPhone. However, as we are only on the third iOS 15 beta, more betas will be released before the official launch, likely in September. Beta releases may introduce new features and could contain bugs. Apple recommends against installing iOS 18 on your primary iPhone. If you prefer a more stable version, wait for the first public beta release, expected soon.
Apple unveiled iOS 18 at the recent Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) alongside iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, visionOS 2, and macOS 15 Sequoia.
