Obsidian shared more details about its upcoming game, Avowed, during today’s Xbox Developer Direct. They provided insight into the gameplay, story, and setting, as well as announcing a release window: Avowed will launch in the fall of 2024 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Game Pass.
The gameplay trailer showcased a blend of combat, story interactions, and glimpses of the game world known as The Living Lands. The game follows the main character’s journey to halt a plague on The Living Lands and uncover a hidden secret along the way. Obsidian presented various combat gameplay sequences, emphasizing a combination of magic, melee attacks, and ranged weaponry, with the ability for players to swiftly swap out their loadouts.
In addition to combat, the trailer depicted the player character’s interactions with other characters, including a sidequest and the options available to resolve it. The game offers “morally gray, nuanced” dialogue choices and narrative decisions. The world is divided into several regions for players to explore, each with its own distinct appearance and design.
Obsidian stated that more information about the game’s release window would be revealed soon.
