Introducing Strands, the latest daily puzzle challenge from the renowned New York Times. A unique twist on the traditional word search, this puzzle will test your observation skills and word-solving abilities.
Similar to popular games like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can pose a challenge on certain days. Don’t hesitate to seek assistance when needed. If you’re struggling with today’s Strands puzzle, take a look at the solved version below.
How to play Strands
Your objective in every Strands puzzle is to locate the hidden “theme words” within the letter grid. Use your finger to drag or tap on letters to form words, then double-tap the last letter to confirm your selection. Correctly identified words will be highlighted in blue and become unselectable.
Even if you discover a word that is not a theme word, it can still benefit you. For every three non-theme words that are at least four letters long, you’ll receive a hint – revealing the letters of one of the theme words that you need to unscramble.
Every single letter in the grid is utilized to spell out the theme words without any overlap. Each letter is used precisely once and not repeated.
Each puzzle features a “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) that pertains to the puzzle’s theme and touches both opposite sides of the board. Once you identify the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The goal is to complete the puzzle swiftly while using as few hints as possible.
