Strands is an exciting new daily puzzle challenge presented by the New York Times. A more challenging version of the traditional word search, solving this puzzle requires a sharp eye and a keen mind.
Similar to popular games like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be quite tricky on some days. It’s perfectly okay to seek help when you encounter difficulties. If you’re stuck and need to see the answers for today’s Strands puzzle, you can find the solved puzzle below.
How to play Strands
To start a Strands puzzle, your objective is to identify the hidden “theme words” within the grid of letters. Manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the final letter to confirm. Correctly identified words will be highlighted in blue and become unselectable.
Finding non-theme words also provides assistance. For every three non-theme words that are at least four letters long, you will receive a hint — revealing the letters of one of the theme words that you need to unscramble.
Every letter on the grid is used to spell out the theme words with no overlaps. Each letter is used once and only once.
Each puzzle includes a “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) that describes the puzzle’s theme and touches opposite sides of the board. Discovering the spangram will be highlighted in yellow.
The goal is to complete the puzzle quickly without relying heavily on hints.
