Strands is a brand new daily puzzle from the New York Times. It offers a challenging twist on the traditional word search, requiring a sharp eye to solve.
Similar to popular puzzles like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be tricky on certain days. Don’t be afraid to seek assistance if you get stuck. If you need the answers to today’s Strands puzzle, you can find them below.
How to play Strands
In each Strands puzzle, your objective is to uncover the “theme words” hidden in the grid of letters. You’ll need to manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the last letter to confirm. Successfully identifying a word will highlight it in blue and make it unselectable.
Even if you find a word that isn’t a theme word, it’s still helpful! For every three non-theme words that are at least four letters long, you’ll receive a hint — revealing the letters of one of the theme words for you to unscramble.
Every letter on the grid is used to spell out the theme words without any overlap. Each letter is used exactly once.
Each puzzle includes a special “spangram,” a theme word (or words) that describes the puzzle’s theme and connects two opposite sides of the board. When you find the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The goal is to complete the puzzle quickly and efficiently without relying too heavily on hints.
