Strands is a brand new daily puzzle from the New York Times. It offers a challenging twist on the traditional word search, requiring a keen eye to solve.
Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can present a tough challenge on certain days. It’s perfectly fine to seek some help when needed. If you’re stuck and looking for the answers to today’s Strands puzzle, see the solved puzzle below.
How to play Strands
To begin a Strands puzzle, your goal is to uncover the “theme words” hidden within the grid of letters. Manipulate the letters by dragging or tapping to form words; double-tap the last letter to confirm. Correct words will be highlighted in blue and can no longer be selected.
Finding non-theme words also helps. For every three non-theme words of four letters or more, you’ll receive a hint – revealing the letters of one of the theme words for unscrambling.
Every letter in the grid is used to spell out the theme words without any overlap. Each letter is used once and only once.
Each puzzle includes a “spangram,” a special theme word that describes the puzzle’s theme and spans two opposite sides of the board. Finding the spangram will be highlighted in yellow.
The objective is to complete the puzzle swiftly without relying too heavily on hints.
