Introducing Strands, a fresh daily puzzle experience from the New York Times. Taking the classic word search to a new level of challenge, this puzzle will test your observation skills.
Similar to popular puzzles like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can present a tough challenge on certain days. There’s no harm in seeking a little assistance when needed. If you’re stuck on today’s Strands puzzle, refer to the solved puzzle below for the answers.
How to play Strands
In Strands, your objective is to uncover the hidden “theme words” within the grid of letters. Use your skills to manipulate letters by dragging or tapping them to form words, then double-tap the final letter to confirm. Correctly identified words will be highlighted in blue and become unselectable.
Finding non-theme words is also beneficial. For every three non-theme words of at least four letters in length, you receive hints — revealing the letters of one of the theme words for unscrambling.
Each letter in the grid is utilized to spell out the theme words without any overlap. Every letter is used exactly once.
Every puzzle includes a “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) related to the puzzle’s theme and connecting two opposite sides of the board. Discovering the spangram will highlight it in yellow.
Strive to solve the puzzle swiftly without relying heavily on hints.
