Introducing Strands, a new daily puzzle from the New York Times. A more challenging twist on the traditional word search, this puzzle will test your observational skills.
Similar to Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, solving Strands can be quite tricky at times. If you find yourself stuck and in need of answers for today’s puzzle, take a look at the solved puzzle below.
How to play Strands
In each Strands puzzle, your objective is to discover the “theme words” hidden within the letter grid. Use drag or tap actions to manipulate letters and form words; tap on the final letter to confirm. When you correctly identify a word, the letters will be highlighted in blue and become unselectable.
Finding non-theme words is also beneficial. For every three non-theme words of at least four letters in length, you’ll receive a hint revealing the letters of one of the theme words that needs unscrambling.
Every letter on the grid is utilized to spell out the theme words with no overlap. Each letter is used exactly once.
Every puzzle includes a “spangram,” a special theme word that describes the puzzle’s theme and reaches across two opposite sides of the board. When you locate the spangram, it will be highlighted in yellow.
The objective is to complete the puzzle swiftly without relying heavily on hints.
