NYT Connections: hints and answers for Sunday, August 18

Connections is the latest puzzle game from the New York Times. The game challenges you to categorize a pool of 16 words into four secret groups by figuring out the relationships between them. The puzzle resets every night at midnight with varying difficulties. Like Wordle, you can track your winning streak and compete with friends.

How to play Connections

In Connections, you’ll see a grid of 16 words that you need to organize into four groups of four by identifying the connections between them. These connections could range from titles of video game franchises to shades of red or names of chain restaurants.

There may be words that seem to fit multiple themes, but only one answer is correct. You can shuffle and rearrange the words to help visualize the connections. Each group is color-coded from easier (yellow) to harder (purple).

Select four words and submit. If correct, the words will be removed, and the theme revealed. Incorrect guesses count as mistakes, with only four allowed before the game ends.
