NYT Connections: hints and answers for Sunday, August 11

Connections is the latest puzzle game from the New York Times. It challenges players to categorize a pool of 16 words into four secret groups by discovering how the words relate to each other. The puzzle resets daily at midnight with varying levels of difficulty. Similar to Wordle, players can track their winning streaks and compete with friends.

How to play Connections

In Connections, you’ll see a grid of 16 words, and the goal is to organize them into four sets of four by identifying the connections between them. These connections could be anything from titles of video game franchises to names of chain restaurants. While some words may seem to fit multiple themes, there is only one correct answer. You can shuffle and rearrange the grid to help visualize the connections better.

Each group is color-coded, with the yellow group being the easiest to figure out, followed by green, blue, and purple groups.

Select four words and hit Submit. If you’re correct, the words will be removed, and the connecting theme will be revealed. Guess incorrectly, and it will count as a mistake. You have up to four mistakes before the game ends.
