AI innovator nunu.ai has successfully raised $2 million in a pre-seed funding round, with support from a16z Games Speedrun, Boost VC, Y Combinator, and various angel investors.
This investment will further nunu.ai’s mission to create AI-based playtesters and quality assurance technology utilizing vision-based “agents” that mimic human-like interactions with games.
These agents are capable of explaining their in-game decisions and actions, providing valuable insights for developers on player engagement.
AI Takes the Stage
nunu.ai specializes in quality assurance for open-world games, showcasing AI gameplay in titles like Roblox, Genshin Impact, and Assassin’s Creed. The company’s development tool enables dynamic interaction and observation, including player simulation.
“Excited to announce our $2 million pre-seed round with a16z Games Speedrun, Boost VC, Y Combinator, and incredible angel investors!” shared nunu.ai co-founder Jan Schnyder on LinkedIn.
“Game QA is a critical aspect of our focus, reshaping the flawed industry norms. Our goal at nunu.ai is to transform Game QA, offering comprehensive testing coverage and faster iteration cycles for game development studios.
“Our vision is to create versatile agents capable of navigating and acting within any virtual 3D environment, initially targeting gaming applications and expanding into general 3D simulations and robotics. This is just the beginning of our journey!”
AI Agents for the Future
In the future, nunu.ai aims to leverage its AI technology to identify bot misuse in online games, aiding studios in removing malicious actors, particularly in competitive games with real-world incentives.
Schnyder detailed: “Our collaboration with studios will extend beyond QA to encompass all aspects of AI agents. By developing advanced agents, we can also efficiently detect misuse and support studios in addressing this issue.”
nunu.ai has also livestreamed AI gameplay in Pokémon Emerald to showcase its capabilities, although Nintendo intends to rely on its developers’ expertise over AI technology.
