NRG Esports, a prominent esports organization based in LA, has recently announced its entry into PUBG Mobile esports through a partnership with Samsung. The new team, named NRG Galaxy, has been unveiled in preparation for the upcoming PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL), a collaboration-based esports league for the popular Battle Royale title.
The announcement of the new team coincided with a major partnership between NRG, Full Squad Gaming, and Samsung Galaxy in the esports and mobile gaming industries. This partnership includes various activations such as the Samsung x FSG Super Spring Break, the Full Squad College Gaming Tour, and the Samsig Game Jam.
“The launch of the NRG Samsung team, and this partnership with Samsung, marks a significant milestone in our journey. As a global brand leading the esports industry, NRG’s foray into mobile gaming through this partnership highlights our commitment to innovation and global expansion. This partnership with Samsung demonstrates our resilience and leadership in a competitive landscape, paving the way for creating remarkable experiences, building a global gaming community, and showcasing the bright future of mobile esports,” stated Andy Miller, CEO of NRG.
Will NRG Galaxy be a part of the PUBG Mobile Super League (PMSL) Americas?
While the press release did not confirm NRG Galaxy’s participation in the PMSL Americas, reports suggest that the organization intends to compete in the league.
Given NRG’s entry into PUBG Mobile, it is likely that they will be part of the PMSL, potentially as a partnered team. The partnership program in PUBG Mobile has attracted numerous top esports organizations like Furia Esports and Team Liquid.
Tencent has scheduled the PMSL Americas Spring 2024 event to take place from May 22 to June 26 as an offline competition at a yet undisclosed location. Sixteen teams will vie for a portion of the $250,000 prize pool, including partnered teams and qualifiers from open qualifiers.
Partnered teams in the PMSL receive benefits such as direct invites and revenue-sharing, without the need for a franchise fee. Tencent emphasizes a long-term mutually beneficial collaboration for partnered teams in the league, aligning with the global esports roadmap.
If NRG Galaxy is not a partnered team, they will need to compete in the PMSL Americas Qualifiers, scheduled to begin soon.
