As a mystery game fan and a Person in the Games Industry, I declare 2024 as the Year of the Mystery Game. With new releases like the remastered Ace Attorney collections, a sequel to Golden Idol, and the upcoming Famicom Detective Club game, Emio â The Smiling Man, launching on August 29, the future looks promising for mystery adventure games and older franchises.
The Emio reveal was especially exciting for me as I hadn’t played the Famicom Detective Club games before Nintendo’s remaster. The revival of this old franchise and the development of a new game show the industry’s commitment to innovation and honoring gaming history.
On the other hand, Xbox and Apex players are still adjusting to last week’s price hikes. Paramount’s Halo series cancellation has me revisiting classics like Perry Mason on Paramount+. Fallout Prime’s 16 Emmy nominations are a testament to its success.
Personally, this week’s new releases have caught my eye. Starting with Flintlock: Siege of Dawn, I plan to explore Kunitsu-Gami and Dungeons of Hinterberg next. Following EVO on Twitch is a must for witnessing top-tier gameplay.
