Nintendo is starting the holiday season early with the announcement of two new Switch bundles set to launch “early this fall.” These bundles essentially include a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a Nintendo Switch Online membership for free.
The bundles were revealed by Nintendo on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. The regular Nintendo Switch bundle with Neon Red and Neon Blue Joy-Con controllers will be priced at $300, while the Switch OLED bundle with white Joy-Cons will retail for $350. Both bundles come with a console, a digital download of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Considering the standalone prices of the Switch consoles, $350 for Switch OLED and $300 for the regular Switch, getting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the Nintendo Switch Online service (valued at $80) essentially for free is a great deal. While there is no specific release date or preorder information yet, updates are expected in the coming weeks.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains the most successful Nintendo Switch game to date, even after its last DLC release in 2023 with the Booster Course Pass. It is also known as one of the top Switch multiplayer games. And since Switch Online is essential for multiplayer gaming, bundling it with the game makes perfect sense. Additionally, Switch Online offers access to classic game ports like GoldenEye 007, Star Fox 64, Super Mario World, as well as Legend of Zelda classics like Majora’s Mask.
These bundles might be one of the final opportunities to snag a deal on the current Switch models, as Nintendo is rumored to be preparing for the release of the Switch’s successor, possibly in early 2025.
