Produced alongside our friends at PocketGamer.fun – THE place to discover your next favorite mobile games – here’s our pick of the best fresh-this-week titles.
While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding, and, of course, development that goes into making a great game. PocketGamer.fun brings you latest games, lets you see them in action, and download right from the page.
So here are the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.
Children of Morta
After five years of containment to PC and console, the wicked Corruption has finally spread to iOS and Android; fortunately, the Bergson family has made the leap too, ready to protect Mount Morta through a return to roguelike action.
Dead Mage’s Children of Morta is a procedurally generated pixel-graphics game that first released in 2019. Five years on, mobile gamers have the chance to experience the world, monsters, and bosses of Morta in a redesigned title built for touchscreens, hack’n’slashing their way to victory as seven distinct characters.
A key part of Children of Morta’s original appeal was said characters – the Bergson family – who are all present and accounted for on mobile with their own unique playstyle, gameplay mechanics, and level.
They give gamers the freedom to choose how to proceed and tackle different tasks, and thanks to a publishing deal with Playdigious, now they have another platform to play on too – with both DLC packs included.
Mythwalker
Geolocation games might typically be associated with Japan, but NantGames’ MythWalker is targeting some rather different audiences for its beta test. After initially launching exclusively in Australia, this location-based fantasy RPG has expanded into Latin and South America with several new features along for the ride.
Players who join the beta are in for an adventure to Mytherra, a world overrun by Hobgoblins but laden with gems, gold, and treasure. By choosing the right class for their playstyle, mastering different abilities, and finding the best gear around, players have the chance to strike it rich while saving the world at the same time: a real win-win.
NantGames has developed this location-based game to encourage real-world adventure but has also implemented a Tap-to-Move mode as an accessibility option, enabling monster bashing, item crafting and more from the comfort of home.
Solebound
Offering yet another incentive to get moving and go outside, This Reality’s Solebound is all about real-world adventures through Fog of War maps – paired with cute animal companions, naturally. By exploring the real world, players can uncover the fog on the map for a gradual sense of progression over time, meanwhile enhancing their animal companion puts a number on their progress.
Each animal has a range of attributes to level up and improve, be it intelligence, charisma, strength, or even culture. And depending on the locations a player visits, different attributes will grow: Visiting a gym in real-life will boost a companion’s strength stat in-game, for example.
By including a leaderboard system, This Reality has also infused a competitive element to exploring, as players can compare their stats with others and aim to see as much of the world as possible – becoming stronger and stronger in the process.
Infinity Nikki
Digital fashionista Nikki is back in action with a global beta on iOS and Android, marking the return of the popular character in an open-world format. Titled Infinity Nikki, this latest Infold game is the fifth installment in a franchise first formed in 2012, and continues the more recent trend of sending its heroine to a fantastical world.
The scale of these titles is ever-growing, and this time around Nikki finds herself in the culturally diverse Miraland; there, players can harness the power of Whim to form new styles anytime, anywhere while they platform and puzzle-solve their way forward.
The Nikki series has come far from a dress-up mobile game, evolving into a series with over $500 million in gross revenue to its name and now expanding cross-platform too. Whether it’s minecart riding, gliding with paper cranes, or just some classic 3D platforming, fans have more choice than ever in what they do, where they do it, and in what they wear.
Ever Chest
Half the thrill of a treasure chest is opening it, right? The suspense; the anticipation; the wondering what awaits inside… well, Yoozoo’s idle adventure Ever Chest is taking that thrill and running with it, developed with chest-opening mechanics at the forefront.
Kickstarting with 15,000 free chests to open during launch, players can expect plenty of rewards to begin their adventures with. Paired with a “relaxed” leveling system eased by idle bonuses, automatic EXP gains, and daily rewards, it shouldn’t take long at all to build up powerful companions on the quest to unravel the Dragon’s Curse.
Ever Chest currently has 168 characters to unlock for free through the daily log-in system meanwhile gameplay sees them obtaining pet companions. Of course, the gear itself also forms a major part of the experience, customizable to each player’s preferences as they grow as a lord of their own territory.
