Netflix announced today that Alain Tascan, previously the EVP of game development at Epic Games, has been appointed as the new President of Games. Tascan will lead Netflix’s growing games division, which includes multiple game studios such as Next Games and Night School Studios. The former gaming VP of the company, Mike Verdu, recently transitioned to a new role within Netflix.
During his time at Epic, Tascan played a key role in the development of popular titles like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys. He brings extensive experience from his previous roles at Electronic Arts and Ubisoft. As the President of Netflix’s gaming business, Tascan will report directly to co-CEO Greg Peters. With over 100 games currently available on the platform, Netflix plans to launch around a dozen new games in the coming months.
In a statement to Variety, Tascan expressed his excitement about joining Netflix, stating, “In an ever-evolving entertainment landscape, Netflix has continually demonstrated an unparalleled ability to innovate and captivate audiences worldwide. I am honored and thrilled to build on the remarkable foundation that the talented games team here has laid, and I firmly believe that Netflix is uniquely positioned to redefine the future of gaming.”
Peters also shared his optimism about Tascan’s appointment in an interview with Variety, saying, “Alain brings over 30 years of experience in global video game development, production, licensing, and building studios. He has a passion for making great games and a proven track record of taking bold creative bets. We’re thrilled to have him leading Netflix Games.”
