With the increasing competition in the music streaming and creation industry, Popster, a social music-sharing app, is introducing two new features to expand its user base. These features include an AI image generator for cover art and a collaboration capability that allows artists to remix other users’ songs.
Originally launched as a song creation tool and music video platform, Popster enables artists to connect with other musicians, create original music and videos, and share them on social media. The app also offers a range of vocal effects and provides a community section for artists to interact with each other.
Popster has incorporated generative AI technology into its platform, allowing artists to generate lyrics ideas, create beats, and enhance audio quality. Additionally, the app features a unique “Add a beat” tool powered by OpenAI, enabling users to compose backtracks for voice recordings based on genre and vibe preferences.
One of the standout features of Popster is its new AI-driven “Albums” artwork generator, allowing artists to create visually appealing content for their music videos. Another innovative feature is the “Mashup” tool that lets users remix and collaborate with other artists similar to TikTok’s “Stitch” and “Duet” functionalities.
Despite being relatively new with a few thousand users, Popster has already seen significant engagement with users spending an average of 1.5 hours on the app daily. The app was founded by Themis Drakonakis and Sotiris Kaniras, who have a track record of creating successful apps in the past.
Popster has received funding from the Realize Tech Fund and is currently raising a pre-seed round to support its growth initiatives. The app’s future plans include introducing paid features, partnering with music labels, and enhancing its video server infrastructure.
For music enthusiasts and aspiring artists, Popster is available for download on the App Store.
