Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), a popular MOBA title on Android and iOS worldwide, may be making a comeback in India with a rebranded version called Moba Legends: 5v5. Published by Vizta Games, the game offers the full MOBA experience of the original game.
Released on April 24, 2024, the game is currently exclusively available for download on the Google Play Store. Although the listing does not mention MLBB or MOONTON, the game itself displays the MLBB logo and name.
When asked for comment, MOONTON declined to provide any information regarding the game to Esports.net.
MLBB India: Moba Legends 5v5 Now Available for Download
Game screenshots on the Google Play Store display the familiar MLBB gameplay. Notably, some text within the game is in Hindi, indicating localization for the Indian market. Esports.net has confirmed that the game is identical to MLBB.
This has sparked speculation that Moba Legends: 5v5 is a localized version specifically tailored for the Indian audience, published by Vizta Games. This follows the ban on the original MLBB in 2020 by India’s ministry of electronics over alleged data privacy concerns.
If confirmed, this would not be the first instance of a banned game returning to India under a new publisher. Similar actions were taken with PUBG Mobile (reintroduced as Battlegrounds Mobile India), Arena of Valor (renamed as Clash of Titans and now as Honor of Kings India), and the upcoming release of Free Fire India.
Considering India’s substantial gaming community, it is not surprising to see major developers localize games for the market. Further details about Moba Legends 5v5, including its servers, the publisher Vizta Games, and its official status as a rebrand of MLBB for India, remain unknown at this time. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
