Just prior to the start of their series against Shopify Rebellion today, offlaner Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov made a surprising announcement – he has been removed from Tundra Esports.
The news caught many off guard, with some initially thinking it was a joke. However, as the match began, it became clear that Tundra had indeed replaced MinD_ContRoL with Vladislav “laise” Lais in the offlane position.
While roster changes are common in Dota 2, it is rare for them to happen in the middle of a tournament. DreamLeague season 22 had just kicked off the day before, and despite a rocky start for Tundra Esports, MinD_ContRoL’s performance was reportedly not the reason for his removal from the team.
In a statement before the match, MinD_ContRoL announced his absence, sparking surprise from fans, talent, and fellow players alike.
In an interview, MinD_ContRoL revealed that his time with Tundra had its challenges. He joined the team after playing in a tier 2 tournament with 9Class, and while the initial lineup looked promising, disagreements arose over various decisions within the team.
Following discussions with Tundra’s CEO, MinD_ContRoL found himself at odds with the direction the organization was taking. Ultimately, he was removed from the roster. It appears that MinD_ContRoL will be taking a break from Dota to reflect on the situation and regroup.
