Playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 can be a challenge due to performance and storage requirements. However, the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 promises easier gameplay.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will have a smaller installation size of 127GB compared to its predecessor’s 157GB. This reduction in size will make it more manageable to install on your device, especially for original Xbox Series X/S owners.
To achieve this, Asobo Studio has optimized the game by loading only necessary environments and textures for the flight path, and utilizing cloud storage for assets. Asobo CEO, Sebastian Wloch, mentioned in an interview with Xbox Wire that the game will seamlessly stream all required content.
Preorders for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are now available at the Microsoft Store, with a release date set for November 19. The game will also be included in Xbox Game Pass on launch day for eligible plans. Early purchasers will receive a special De Havilland Canada CL-415 firefighting craft. Different editions are available, ranging from $60 to $200.
- Standard edition: Includes 70 aircraft and 150 upgraded airports ($70)
- Deluxe edition: Adds 10 more aircraft and five extra airports ($100)
- Premium Deluxe: Includes an additional 15 aircraft ($130)
- Aviator edition: Offers all content from other editions plus 30 Microsoft-published marketplace aircraft released between 2021 and 2024 ($200)
New features in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 include a career system that allows players to build piloting skills, unlock missions, and learn about real-world pilot procedures. Additionally, the game will enhance environmental details by a factor of 4,000 and introduce new soft body simulations for hot air balloons.
