MDaaS Global, a Nigerian health tech company that operates a network of tech-enabled diagnostic centers across the country, has secured $3 million in pre-Series A funding.
The funding round was led by Aruwa Capital and Newton Partners, with Newton Partners being the lead investor in MDaaS’ $2.3 million seed extension in 2021. Ventures Platform also provided follow-on capital, bringing the total investment in MDaaS to $6.8 million.
MDaaS plans to use the investment to launch BeaconOS, its proprietary technology platform, and expand its healthcare network to cover all states in Nigeria through a combination of company-owned and affiliate clinics.
Access to healthcare in Nigeria and Africa remains a challenge, with a focus on treatment rather than prevention. MDaaS aims to improve access to diagnostics and preventive care to address this healthcare challenge.
Founded in 2017 by CEO Oluwasoga Oni, Opeyemi Ologun and Genevieve Oni, MDaaS offers diagnostic services including imaging, cardiac services, and lab services at its centers.
MDaaS facilitates patient access through the SentinelX app, offering personalized care programs and annual access to a doctor. The startup has expanded its services and now focuses more on serving corporates and conducting screenings.
BeaconOS and an integrated care network are essential to MDaaS’ operations and growth. BeaconOS streamlines operations, and the care network involves collaboration with over 1,300 referring clinicians and 1,000 organizations.
MDaaS has provided care to over 275,000 patients, with women constituting the majority. The health tech has conducted numerous diagnostic tests, with a focus on non-communicable diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and cancer.
MDaaS has introduced Olewerk and Beam to optimize workflows and manage occupational health. With the new investment, MDaaS plans to develop new applications on the BeaconOS platform and integrate with HMOs for streamlined processes.
“We are thrilled to partner with MDaaS Global on their mission to revolutionize healthcare delivery in Africa,” said Adesuwa Okunbo Rhodes of Aruwa Capital. “MDaaS’ dedication to high-quality diagnostics and gender diversity aligns with our values.”
