Entertainment company Bushiroad has made a surprising game announcement by revealing that Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live will be launched globally in February and also shut down in May.
Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live is an anime-themed rhythm action and adventure game, serving as the sequel to Love Live! School Idol Festival that was initially released in 2014.
In a tweet from the game’s official handle posted here, it was expressed, “We appreciate the love and support you’ve shown, and we’re committed to making these last few months an unforgettable moment.”
Debuting in April 2023, Love Live! School Idol Festival 2 Miracle Live introduced new monetization methods and gameplay with hopes to attract the original game’s significant audience. Initially, players could transfer their songs and cards to the Japanese release of the game. However, due to a slow uptake of this plan, the international version of the sequel rhythm game was delayed.
As a result, Bushiroad has made the unexpected decision to close the sequel game at the same time its international English language version is ready for release.
In a tweet from January 25, 2024, it was announced that the global version of the game will be launching soon in February 2024 and will shut down on May 31, 2024.
The good news is that those who have been waiting ten years for an English language version of the game will finally get to play it, and we admire Bushiroad’s commitment to allowing international fans to enjoy their work. However, it’s unfortunate that this experience will be tainted by the game’s scheduled deletion in May.
But not to worry, the game’s makers are still facilitating in-game microtransactions within the international editions so that players can continue enjoying the game before it ceases to exist.
This scenario can be reminiscent of Fntastic’s The Day Before, a PC shooter that, after enjoying similar hype and anticipation, disappointed fans by shutting down just 45 days after launch.
