The groundbreaking game that followed in the footsteps of Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls was Deck13 and CI Games’ 2014 title Lords of the Fallen. Despite receiving mostly positive reviews upon its debut, a proper sequel wasn’t released for nearly a decade. Initially named Lords of the Fallen 2, we eventually saw the release of Lords of the Fallen in 2023. Now, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming Lords of the Fallen 2, which represents the third installment in the series. Thankfully, this time around, the wait won’t be as long. Let’s conserve our stamina and explore what we know about this highly anticipated soulslike game.
Release Window
In June 2024, CI Games announced that Lords of the Fallen 2 was aiming for a 2026 release. The game is still without an official title, so we may not see it named Lords of the Fallen 2 after all. With full production underway several months later, this title is set to have a quicker development cycle compared to others of similar scale, as long as it hits its projected release year. More details, including potential footage, are scheduled to be unveiled in 2025.
Platforms
Alongside the announcement of Lords of the Fallen 2, it was revealed that the game is in development for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. On PC, it will be an Epic Games store exclusive initially, with a potential future appearance on Steam after a limited exclusivity period ends.
Trailers
As the game has just entered full development, no images or trailers have been released yet.
Gameplay
According to a financial report from CI Games, Lords of the Fallen 2 will introduce various changes to appeal to a broader audience, including a new art style, narrative, and enhanced production values. The game will offer a single-player or co-op campaign similar to its predecessor, and is expected to maintain its dark fantasy theme while adhering to the soulslike formula.
Preorder
With the release set for 2026, it will be some time before preorders become available, if at all. Rest assured, we’ll keep you informed once preorders open up.
