Cloud9 has reportedly secured their new mid laner for the upcoming 2025 season: Lee “Loki” Sang-min, coming from LCK Challengers, will be making his debut in NA.
Loki – Exciting Addition to Cloud9
As reported by Sheep Esports, Loki has reached a verbal agreement with Cloud9 to take on the role of starting mid laner for the team in 2025. Following the departure of jojopyun to MDK in the LEC, Cloud9 has been actively searching for a new player during the offseason.
Cloud9 has a history of recruiting players from Korea, having previously brought in talents like EMEN3s, Berserker, and Thanatos. Once again, they have opted for a player from the LCK Challengers League, with reports suggesting that C9 also considered Kang “Saint” Sung-in from Dplus KIA Challengers for the mid lane position.
Exciting Changes ahead for Cloud9
Cloud9 is coming off a disappointing season where they failed to qualify for Worlds 2024. Despite having a strong lineup on paper, they struggled towards the end of the season, ultimately losing to 100Thieves in the LCS Championship.
Following the season, ADC Berserker departed after three years with the team while jojopyun joined MDK. Zven, returning to the AD position, was chosen to replace Berserker, with Loki completing the team for 2025. Alongside Zven, Loki will play with top laner Thanatos, jungler Blaber, and support Vulcan.
Loki’s Journey in Professional Play
Loki began his competitive career in 2022 with HLE Academy before progressing to HLE Challengers in 2023 as a substitute, eventually becoming a starter this season. In 2024, he achieved fourth and sixth place finishes in the Spring and Summer splits, respectively.
Despite not posting the best individual stats in LCK Challengers, Loki now has the opportunity to showcase his skills in a top-tier league alongside a strong lineup at Cloud9.
