Currently, large organizations rely on “business intelligence” (BI) tools to analyze their operations. However, this has led to the creation of complex software solutions in the industry.
Fluent, a UK startup, has secured a $7.5 million seed investment round led by Hoxton Ventures and Tiferes Ventures. They aim to revolutionize business databases by utilizing AI-based Large Language Models (LLMs) to make data analysis accessible to everyone.
Traditional BI tools connect to business databases and use SQL to generate visualizations and dashboards. Major players in this sector include Tableau, Power BI, Looker, and QuickSight. The global business intelligence market was valued at $27.11 billion in 2022, and it is projected to reach $54.27 billion by 2030, with potential for further growth with AI and LLM integration.
Fluent intends to act as a “conversational layer” by employing natural-language LLMs on top of a company’s data warehouse. This approach allows users to ask questions in plain English and receive insights quickly, without the need for technical expertise.
With Fluent’s solution, response times are significantly reduced, enabling consultants to make data-driven decisions in real-time. Clients like Bain & Company have already benefited from Fluent’s platform.
Fluent’s CEO, Robert Van Den Bergh, emphasizes the accuracy and efficiency of their solution, which sets them apart from other players in the market. He envisions a future where business users can easily access insights from their data without the need for complex modeling.
The natural language querying space is still evolving, with companies like Metabase, Einblick, and Thoughtspot offering similar solutions to varying degrees. Fluent stands out by focusing on the business market rather than data-centric users.
