Lenovo has claimed that its new ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 laptop can achieve an impressive 29 hours of local video playback, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip. This battery life claim surpasses previous records set by other Snapdragon-powered PCs in recent months.
Tom’s Hardware initially discovered the 29-hour claim on Weibo, a Chinese social media site. While the U.S. Lenovo site does not currently mention this number, it does refer to “true multiday battery life,” equating one day to 24 hours, leaving room for interpretation as to the exact battery life duration.
It’s worth noting that local video playback tests, often used for battery life marketing claims, may not accurately represent real-world laptop usage scenarios. While such tests are valid for specific situations like movie watching during flights, they may not reflect typical laptop usage patterns.
Although achieving a full 29 hours of continuous use may not be realistic for everyday tasks, Snapdragon-powered devices, like the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6, have shown strong performance in independent battery tests. For example, the HP OmniBook X boasts up to 26 hours of local video playback but achieved shorter durations in actual web browsing and video playback tests.
Additional features of the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 include an Integrated Qualcomm Adreno GPU, 32 GB RAM, 1TB of storage, and a 14-inch IPS display, catering to professional tasks like video transcoding, data analysis, and coding. The laptop also offers a variety of ports, a fingerprint reader, and an infrared camera for biometric login.
With a price of $1,754.35 on the U.S. Lenovo site, the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 provides impressive specifications and potential for extended battery life compared to its competitors.
