LCK Summer Week 5 – Can KDF be the dark horse of the league?

In Week 4, HLE secured victories against T1 and FOX, reclaiming the second spot in the standings. After a shaky start to the split, HLE has shown remarkable improvement, only losing to DK and Gen.G. With their recent wins, HLE is inching closer to the top spot, even though Gen.G still remains a dominant force in the league.

While HLE was expected to be a strong contender due to their talented roster, KDF has emerged as the dark horse of the LCK. In the previous split, they acted as gatekeepers for the playoffs, defeating lower-ranked teams but struggling against top-tier opponents. However, this split has seen a significant improvement in their performance, with wins against KT and close matches against DK and T1. Let’s delve into the key elements of the upcoming series.

KDF vs HLE – Match Analysis

KDF’s improvement can be attributed to their diversified gameplay, with different players stepping up based on the team composition. Cuzz, in particular, has been carrying the team on champions like Nidalee, easing the pressure on Bulldog and Leaper to deal damage. While they have become more balanced, their early game aggression still needs refinement, an area where HLE excels.

On the HLE side, Viper and Zeka continue to be key players, especially Viper as the ADC. Peanut acts as the linchpin, setting the tempo for the team. If Peanut’s performance falters, HLE’s performance dips. KDF’s strategy should involve neutralizing Peanut to gain an edge.

Additionally, KDF has often played from the red side, utilizing counter picks to gain advantages in the draft. It remains to be seen if this strategy will continue in this series.
