Creating a reminder and task management system for yourself is easy, but finding a service that fits your team can be challenging. It’s even harder to get family and friends to use the same task management app. However, the iOS app Karo is designed to solve this problem, allowing you to send tasks even if the recipient does not have the app.
Mustafa Yusuf, the developer behind the app, previously developed another task management app called Tasks for more complex task organization. Yusuf shared that he created Karo because existing apps did not provide the flexibility to assign tasks to contacts in his address book.
Before developing Karo, Yusuf had to manually remind contacts through messaging apps to complete tasks. This led to tasks being forgotten due to the lack of a tracking system.
The app and its features
Karo offers a user-friendly interface resembling a messaging app to input tasks effortlessly. You can use natural language to add tasks with specific deadlines, and assign tasks to contacts by @mentioning them. Additionally, you can attach media files and leverage AI to break down tasks and plan activities.
Once a task is assigned, recipients receive notifications within the app, or via WhatsApp and SMS for non-users. Reminders are sent timely based on the task’s due date, ensuring tasks are completed on time. The app organizes tasks by contact, allows for easy communication, and provides an activity tab to monitor task progress.
In a country like India where many businesses lack proper task management systems, Karo’s integration with WhatsApp and group creation features make it appealing to users. Businesses like a dry fruit distributor in Mumbai already use Karo for task assignment and completion through WhatsApp.
Karo is free to use, with premium features like groups, themes, and attachments available for a monthly, yearly, or one-time payment. Yusuf plans to release an Android version soon, emphasizing the app’s ability to send reminders to contacts regardless of their app usage.
