If you’ve been eagerly anticipating a folding iPhone, your wait may soon be over. Analyst Jeff Pu’s report, as cited by MacRumors and 9to5Mac, suggests that 2026 could see the release of not just one, but two folding devices from Apple: a folding iPhone and a folding iPad/Mac hybrid.
This isn’t the first time rumors about a folding iPhone have surfaced. In a separate report last month, Digitimes also hinted at a potential 2026 launch. Pu’s recent rumor further reinforces the possibility of a 2026 release date.
Another of Pu’s reports from May suggests that Apple may not enter mass production of foldable devices until 2025 or 2026. The initial speculations indicated a foldable iPad or MacBook, followed by a folding iPhone with a possible 20.3-inch display.
The folding iPhone is likely to adopt a clamshell form factor similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Motorola Razr, rather than a horizontal fold like the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Pu’s report indicates that both folding devices are set for a 2026 release timeline. The folding iPad/Mac hybrid is expected to debut first, followed by the folding iPhone towards the end of 2026—a schedule in line with Apple’s typical product release cycle.
The prospect of a folding iPhone has been circulating for some time now, and it seems we are moving closer towards its realization. This innovation promises to inject excitement into the iPhone lineup, which has faced criticism for stagnation. With Samsung’s lead in the foldable industry, Apple’s entry is eagerly awaited.
