Apple unveiled the latest developer beta release of its operating systems on Wednesday, which includes iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2. These releases come a week before the expected public launch of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, with Apple yet to announce an exact date.
With the upcoming release, Apple will introduce Apple Intelligence features to the public for the first time in a non-beta form. These features encompass integrated writing tools, image enhancement, article summarization, and a typing input feature for the redesigned Siri experience.
For those brave individuals enrolled in the developer beta program, additional Apple Intelligence features are available, such as GenMoji, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, Image Wand, and ChatGPT integration, as announced at WWDC in June.
New users will need to opt into the Apple Intelligence feature through Settings and grant permission for ChatGPT functionality. The generative AI platform is integrated into Siri for answering questions and within Writing Tools for composing text.
The Image Playground feature utilizes prompts to generate new images and is available in various Apple apps. It is trained on licensed content and publicly crawled websites. Image Wand allows users to transform sketches into artwork and clean up handwritten notes.
Furthermore, Genmoji enables users to create original emojis with prompts and descriptions. Visual Intelligence is akin to Google Lens and offers various functionalities through the iPhone 16’s camera Control button, including QR code scanning, text copying and summarization, and language translation.
Visual Intelligence can access Google’s knowledge base for shopping queries and ChatGPT information without requiring a ChatGPT account. Overall, these Apple Intelligence features offer a range of enhancements and tools for users to explore and utilize.
