As an iPhone user since the very first model, my device has evolved from just a pocket computer to my primary camera over the past two decades.
In 2021, Apple introduced Photographic Styles with the iPhone 13 series. These styles acted like real-time filters for photos, allowing users to customize their camera output. While the preset styles were good, the inability to change them once a photo was taken was a significant drawback.
With the iPhone 16, Apple has addressed this limitation, allowing users to switch Photographic Styles even after capturing an image. This change has me thrilled for the possibilities.
The Evolution of Photographic Styles
A Fix for Photographic Styles
Three years after the introduction of Photographic Styles, Apple has finally revamped the feature with the iPhone 16. This update brings a wider range of styles to choose from and the ability to change styles even after capturing an image.
The improved control pad allows for live previews and adjustments to tone and color, providing users with more customization options than ever before.
Exciting Year for iPhone Photographers
Aside from Photographic Styles, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro offer new camera features like Camera Control, a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens, and 5x optical zoom. These upgrades may seem incremental to some, but for avid iPhone photographers like me, they are truly exciting.
