Supersonic, a hypercasual games publisher, has now reached its fourth year in operation, boasting an impressive track record and numerous accomplishments. The company has achieved a remarkable 4.98 billion downloads across its portfolio, with over 100 titles published.
Among these titles, Bridge Race, Going Balls, and Tall Man Run stand out as they ranked second, third, and ninth respectively among the top 10 most downloaded hypercasual games of 2023. Even in the highly competitive mobile market as a whole, Bridge Race and Going Balls secured impressive 11th and 12th positions for downloads across all genres.
Key to Success
data.ai’s findings for 2023 identified seven Supersonic titles among the top 100 downloaded games, including Bridge Race, Going Balls, Tall Man Run, Emoji Puzzle, Build a Queen, Slow Mo Run, and Hide ‘N Seek. These accomplishments placed Supersonic’s parent company, Unity, as the fourth-largest publisher worldwide based on installations last year, trailing behind industry giants like Azur, Tencent, and Onesoft.
Unity also secured the second spot among hypercasual game publishers as a result of these accolades.
Over the past year, Supersonic games have amassed nearly 1.6 billion downloads, showcasing significant growth from a total of 3.4 billion downloads at the same time the previous year. This surge was notably supported by the success of the 2023 title, Build a Queen, which became the fifth most downloaded mobile game in September 2023 and has since maintained a position in the top 20.
This single-player platformer game allows users to construct a queen by navigating through various platforming paths and unlocking customization options along the way.
Building for the Future
During Supersonic’s fourth year, the mobile publisher focused on optimizing its processes and providing enhanced resources to developers in areas such as prototyping, marketing, ideation, and game design. The company updated its A/B testing platform, expanded statistical insights for developers, and enabled users to closely monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) like playtime and retention rates.
Nadav Ashkenazy, Chief Revenue Officer at Unity Grow, shared, “2023 was a particularly exciting year for us as we completely revamped our self-serve platform. Our goal with each step we take is to enhance transparency for our developer partners. We provide developers with cutting-edge technology to support efficient game growth, along with expert insights to foster the development of their soft skills, such as game ideation.”
Ashkenazy continued, “We are extremely proud of our legacy games like Bridge Race, Going Balls, and Tall Man Run, which continue to dominate the charts and deliver exceptional experiences for users and profitability for creators. Additionally, newer titles like Build a Queen and Slow Mo Run are swiftly climbing the ladder of success, both in terms of downloads and revenue. We are grateful to the expanding list of studios who choose to partner with us for publishing their game portfolio.”
Last month, Supersonic finalized its latest publishing agreement with Nitro Games, assuming user acquisition and promotional responsibilities for Autogun Heroes.
