Printing from your Android Phone
Printers may be becoming less necessary with digital file sharing, but they’re still essential. And printing straight from your smartphone is easier than you might think. Here’s a guide to help you learn how to print files directly from your Android phone.
Step 1: To print a file on Android, open the one you want to print. You can use Files, Google Docs, Google Sheets, or any other app that supports printing. The instructions are similar across different apps.
Step 2: Open the file and choose the three vertical dots in the top-right corner.
Step 3: Select the Print option from the list.
Step 4: Your printer should be visible at the top of the page. If it isn’t, choose Select a printer and then select All printers > Add printer to add it.
Step 5: Choose your printer’s print service, and then hit the Print button.
Printing a Web Page
You don’t need to download anything to print a web page. It can be done straight from the internet. Just open Chrome and go to the webpage you want to print. Then open the three-dot menu in the top-right and choose Share. Select Print, and then choose your printer and tap Print.
Setting Up a Printer on Android Devices
If you don’t see your printer when following the steps above, you’ll need to add it first. Here’s how:
Step 1: Go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > Printing.
Step 2: Select Add service, and the Google Play Store will open.
Step 3: Choose your printer’s brand and Install the app.
Printing Using Email on Android
Recently, some printers have been getting email addresses, meaning you can send an email to the printer with a document you want to print, and it will automatically print it.
Step 1: Open your preferred email client and create a new email. Then enter the printer’s email address in the To field.
Step 2: Select the Attach button, navigate to the file you want to print, and then select the Send button.
Alternatively, find and open the image or file you want to print, then select the three dots next to the file and then the Share button. Enter the printer’s email address in the To field and tap Send.
