To utilize the new Custom GPT feature, you will need a GPT Plus subscription. Make sure to sign up or get a free trial to try it out.
Create a custom GPT
When using ChatGPT, you will now mostly work with a custom GPT model that you or someone else has created. Here’s how you can get started with your own:
Step 1: Go to the ChatGPT website or log in to the ChatGPT app.
Step 2: Click on the Create a GPT button at the top of the page.
Step 3: Name your Custom GPT, provide a description, and customize its instructions. Think of this as the unique instructions for this particular GPT model.
Use the Preview window to see how the AI responds to your prompts. Adjust the instructions on the left to fine-tune its performance until you are satisfied.
Step 4: Include specific data for the AI to reference, such as documents or files, and observe how this affects its behavior. Adjust the instructions accordingly.
Step 5: Customize the AI’s capabilities, like DALL-E art generation or search engine access. You can also select which plugins it can use.
Step 6: Once you are happy with your custom GPT, click the green Publish or Update button to finalize it. Your new custom GPT will appear in the left-hand menu alongside other GPT models.
How to share your custom GPT
One of the exciting features of custom GPT creations is the ability to share them with others. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Create a new custom GPT or edit an existing one by selecting the three-dot menu next to it.
Step 2: Make any desired changes to your custom GPT. Before updating, click the three-dot menu icon next to it.
Step 3: Choose whether to limit AI access to yourself, plugin users, or anyone with a link from the pop-out menu.
To share with anyone, select Anyone with a link.
Step 4: After publishing or updating your custom GPT, share it with others using the custom link.
