1) HoYoverse’s Astaweave Haven among 105 Chinese approvals this July
HoYoverse’s upcoming game, Astaweave Haven, has received approval for release in China. While details about the game are scarce, the approval confirms its availability on both PC and mobile platforms.
Astaweave Haven is one of 105 video games granted licences in China this month, slightly higher than the previous months. A total of 628 licences have been approved so far this year.
2) Monster Hunter Now introduces Dimensional Links for rural players
Niantic’s Monster Hunter Now has added a new multiplayer feature called Dimensional Links, aimed at improving accessibility for rural players. This feature links random monsters to other players’ locations worldwide, allowing them to hunt together.
The introduction of Dimensional Links opens up more opportunities for online multiplayer, with spawn rates shrouded in mystery.
3) Pokémon Unite rakes in $83 million on mobile for its third year anniversary
Pokémon Unite, the MOBA game from The Pokémon Company, has generated $82.7 million in gross mobile revenue ($57.9 million net) as it celebrates its third anniversary. The US market leads in in-game spending, followed by Japan and South Korea.

Early-stage venture capital funding for games hit a 12-month high of $492 million in Q2 2024, as reported by Konvoy Ventures. However, overall investment in the industry remains low compared to previous years.
