While some may be experiencing AI fatigue, venture investors are still very much interested in the category.
In the first half of 2024, over $35.5 billion was invested in AI startups globally, according to recent Crunchbase data. Out of the six venture rounds exceeding $1 billion raised in the first half of 2024, five were by AI companies.
Several other AI startups also secured mega-rounds exceeding $100 million. U.S.-based startups accounted for two of the billion-dollar rounds and 64% of the mega-rounds in the first half of the year.

- Hebbia, $130 million: Hebbia secured $130 million led by Andreessen Horowitz and also received investments from notable names like Peter Thiel, Index Ventures, and Google Ventures, reaching a valuation of $700 million.
- Skild AI, $300 million: Pittsburgh-based Skild AI raised a $300 million Series A round on July 9, with backing from Lightspeed Venture Partners, Coatue, Bezos Expeditions, Sequoia, Menlo Ventures, and General Catalyst. Skild AI focuses on developing technology for robotic systems.
