Netflix has announced the release date for one of the biggest additions to its game library: Supergiant’s Hades.
The roguelike launches on mobile exclusively through Netflix on March 19, and players can pre-register to play the iOS version. It’s one of Netflix’s higher-profile additions to its burgeoning games library, with others including the GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition and the recently revealed Rainbow Six SMOL.
According to Netflix, Hades has been translated for mobile with customizable onscreen controls, updated menus and UI, cloud saves and achievements, as well as running at the original release speed of 60 FPS. Hades was originally released in early access in 2018, with the full game launching in 2020. Supergiant is also working on a sequel called Hades II, starring Zagreus’s sister Melinoe.
Netflix’s games library has steadily accrued more titles and generated more interest, and the company reported that the launch of the GTA Trilogy tripled player engagement. It remains to be seen if Hades can draw the same level of new engagement, but its appealing art design and familiar subject matter might also be a source of interest.
