Currently, there is a closed playtest happening for Gray Zone Warfare, a multi-genre shooter in development by MADFINGER Games. Described as a combination of an extraction shooter, tactical FPS, and open-world survival game, Gray Zone Warfare offers a unique and rich gaming experience. The game aims to revolutionize the extraction shooter genre and elevate the level of tactical freedom in the shooter space.
Having participated in the closed playtest of Gray Zone Warfare, I must say that every aspect of the game has left me thoroughly impressed. While the game offers a complex experience, it is more approachable than games like Escape from Tarkov. It has been a while since I last played such an immersive tactical shooter, and I am eagerly looking forward to more.
Gray Zone Warfare Raises the Standards
If Gray Zone Warfare represents the future of extraction shooters, count me in for more – and I want it now! From the moment I dove into the world of Gray Zone, I was impressed by its numerous features. The game offers a vast open-world environment, a trading system, survival mechanics, realistic combat mechanics, and extensive character customization options. Players can explore the world solo or with a team, with a strong emphasis on cooperation with faction members to achieve various objectives.
Throughout my playthrough, tasks included marking supply caches, rescuing a crashed helicopter and its crew, scouting abandoned locations, and engaging enemy forces. Despite encountering some technical issues due to the game’s alpha state during the closed playtest, I couldn’t find any faults with Gray Zone’s gameplay. Upon launching the game, players start at their home base, where they gear up before venturing into the open world to pursue their objectives freely.
With no time constraints, few boundaries, and minimal restrictions, players have the freedom to explore the world and face its dangers for extended periods of time. MADFINGER has delivered a solid foundation with Gray Zone Warfare, even in its early stages. The game shows great potential, and once it enters early access and becomes more open to players, it is bound to create a lot of excitement. I can already foresee myself at a loss for what to play next once the closed playtest concludes – I’ll be eagerly anticipating the next development phase.
