In the U.S., Samsung used to dominate the foldables market, but things have changed. Google and other brands have entered the foldables arena. The Google Pixel Fold made a strong debut as Google’s first foldable.
The successor to the Pixel Fold is expected to be the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold (initially thought to be Pixel Fold 2). Here’s what we know so far about Google’s upcoming foldable.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Release Date
Usually, Google hosts its main Pixel event in October. However, this year, the event will take place earlier on August 13 in Mountain View, California. It’s expected that Google will unveil the Pixel 9 series, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, at this event. The Pixel Fold last year was announced on May 10, 2023, during Google I/O and was available for purchase on June 28. It’s uncertain if the Pixel 9 Pro Fold will have a similar release timeline.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Price
The Google Pixel Fold started at $1,799 for the 256GB model and $1,919 for the 512GB variant. Given potential upgrades in specs, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold may have a similar or higher price tag. Samsung raised prices for Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 despite minimal changes, so Google might follow suit. Official pricing for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is yet to be revealed.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Design
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is expected to introduce significant design changes despite being the second-generation foldable from Google. The camera module, frame edges, inner display selfie camera, and display sizes are all likely to see improvements and modifications.
