Google has announced improvements to search suggestions in Chrome. These updates aim to provide users with more helpful search suggestions based on popular searches, display more images for suggested searches, and offer search suggestions even with poor internet connections.
Search suggestions are predictive completions that appear as you type in Google. They help users save time and streamline their search process. With these enhancements, Google aims to expand the availability of search suggestions and use them to inspire users.
Users signed into Chrome on desktop will now see suggestions related to their previous searches based on popular trends when opening a new tab. For example, if you recently searched for “Japchae,” you may see suggestions for other popular Korean dishes like tteok-bokki, bulgogi, and bibimbap.
Chrome will now display images for broader shopping categories and products based on simpler searches. For instance, typing “bohemian table” will show images of related items like tablecloths, runners, and lamps. This feature enables users to explore products of interest even without knowing the exact search query. The updates will roll out on Android and iOS.
Additionally, Chrome users on Android and iOS can now access search suggestions even with poor network connections, thanks to enhanced on-device capabilities. This update will provide users with more relevant suggestions even when browsing in Incognito Mode.
