Exciting news for enthusiasts looking forward to the latest Samsung foldable phones! Google has just announced a range of new features for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the new Galaxy smartwatches.
One of the new features is context-aware Gemini. This new assistant, when activated on the foldable phones, will analyze the screen activity and provide relevant suggestions. For instance, while watching a video, Gemini might suggest “ask about this video”.
Apple is also working on a similar feature for iOS 18 and Siri using the Apple Intelligence toolkit, aiming to provide users with context-aware information on their screens. This includes understanding text, images, and offering guidance with accessibility in mind, among other benefits.
Gemini takes advantage of the large screen space on Samsung’s latest foldable devices. On the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the Gemini window can appear as a floating window and supports split-screen mode.
Currently available in over 200 countries and supporting 29 languages, Gemini plans to expand its language offerings soon. Google recently added nine Indian languages to Gemini and increased language support in Google Translate with the help of AI.
Another feature introduced is Circle to Search, a function that simplifies web searches by allowing users to draw a circle around or highlight text or images on the screen. This feature will be available on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 with additional functionalities coming soon.
Circle to Search will soon assist users with tasks like scanning QR and bar codes and understanding symbolic math. Mathematical tools are gaining popularity, and Apple recently showcased Math Notes at WWDC 2024, a feature allowing users to write mathematical problems on the screen for instant solutions.
Galaxy Z Fold 6 users will soon enjoy watching YouTube in multiview mode, allowing up to four video streams to be viewed simultaneously. This feature is ideal for watching live sports and was previously limited to smart TVs and streaming devices.
Lastly, the new Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra will be the first smartwatches to feature Wear OS 5, the latest version of Google’s smartwatch operating system.
