Google has announced a significant update to Google Search and AI Overview, powered by AI technology.
Earlier, Google integrated generative AI into its Lens app, allowing users to identify objects in photos and search for related information. Now, the app provides AI Overviews based on visual content, expanding to video clips as well.
With the latest update, users can use Lens to search by capturing a video and asking questions about moving objects. For instance, at an aquarium, Lens can provide information about specific fish through video queries.
To try this feature, available globally in English, users can enroll in the “AI Overviews and more” experiment through the Google App on iOS and Android.
Voice questions are now supported in Lens, eliminating the need to type queries. Lens shopping experience has also been enhanced with more helpful results, including reviews, price comparisons, and buying information.
Circle to Search feature can now find music for users, enabling easy access to information about music videos seen on social media. The search results page has been updated using AI for better organization and content exploration.
A new design for AI Overview will show prominent links within the text for easy access to supporting webpages, driving additional traffic to websites with AI content. The updated design will be globally rolled out starting today.
