Like many others, I was once immersed in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in early 2020. Spending a lot of time on the Nintendo Switch game for work, I eventually lost interest due to various frustrations. However, Go-Go Town has reignited my love for town-building and life simulation games.
Developed by Prideful Sloth and Cult Games, Go-Go Town was released on Steam early access on June 18. It offers a delightful experience of reviving a dilapidated city as its mayor. The game’s presentation, gameplay mechanics, and engaging gameplay loops make it a standout entry in the genre.
In Go-Go Town, I assumed the role of mayor in a rundown town and worked towards improving its ranking by collecting Ego and Coins. Balancing resource management and town development forms the core gameplay loop, reminiscent of the enjoyment derived from Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Go-Go Town distinguishes itself with its accessible gameplay, vibrant visuals, and user-friendly design. The game’s seamless mechanics and fast in-game clock keep players engaged, offering a rewarding experience.
The game’s future looks promising, with Prideful Sloth actively engaging with player feedback and transparently sharing its development roadmap. The continuous improvements and updates promise a fulfilling gaming experience.
Go-Go Town is currently available on PC through early access, with plans for console release in the future.
